 What kind of braces do you have?

 I have the Damon System (clear on the top, metal on the bottom).

How much did it cost?

$6,300, but I  received a $315 discount since I paid the amount in full on the day the braces were installed. The total was $5,985 after the discount.

Why are you wearing braces?

I would like to get rid of my openbite and extra gaps. I would like my gap between my two front teeth to be a little smaller WITHOUT completely getting rid of it. However, if you want to get technical, here is what the orthodontist wrote down on my treatment plan.

• Large anterior openbite(dental and skeletal)

• Spacing between upper incisors

• Thick maxillary frenum attachment

• Class I. malocclusion

What caused your teeth to become misaligned?
I spent several years sucking my index finger...don't judge me lol.

When did you get braces?

I will got the top row on 2/8/11. The bottom brackets were added on 7/27/11.

How long will you be in your braces?

As of right now, my treatment estimate is about 2 years (24-26 visits).

Did the application of them hurt?

No, not at all!

How old are you, and how does it feel to be an adult in braces?

I'm in my mid 20's and It feels awesome. I can't stop smiling!

How do you handle tooth/mouth pain?

I hope that I will be able to stay strong and just focus on the end result in order to get through the pain. We shall see...lol.

Is it hard to eat with braces?

Not really, the cleaning can be tedious though.

How do you brush your teeth, maintain oral hygiene?

I brush after every meal and also at night and in the morning. I floss at night.

Did getting braces change your speech?

No! I'm soooo glad it didn't!

Do you feel less attractive with braces?

I thought I would, but surprisingly I feel even more beautiful!

How does your spouse feel about your braces?

My hubby is very supportive of me in general. He would be happy with me no matter what(braces or not)...lol. So far he loves them too!

How have your other friends and family responded to your metal mouth?
My parents are very excited for me! As for my friends, they tend to joke a lot so I have the feeling I will be the center of some jokes when we get together. We shall see...lol.
